Sept 3 2014 Meeting recap!

Hi Fellow Toastmasters,

We had a bittersweet meeting today; it was the last meeting with member, Amos. He is leaving us to move to Iowa as he has taken a position as pastor in a church there. We will miss him.

Ritu was unable to serve as Toastmaster today as work got the better of her, so Susanne acted as Toastmaster and did a wonderful job.

Our new member, Karry chose the word-of-the-day:

Dither
Indecisive behavior, state of agitation

Most of the members used the word-of-the-day today! Good choice, Karry!

Karry also was the Grammarian and Ah-Er Counter.

We had two speeches today. The first speech today was Susanne. She was very successful in roasting Amos. Amos was our second speech, and he gave a very moving, inspirational speech on how failure makes us stronger. We will miss his presence and are sad to see him go.

Lori was our Table Topics Master and Vote Counter. Her topic was to choose a slip of paper with an object on it. We then had to speak as if we were that object. Some of us were a credit card, chair, eyeglasses and a mirror. Amos won the Table Topics with his moving topic speaking as a mirror. Katie was our Timer today – her first time!

Susanne was also our general evaluator.

We closed our meeting by filling out forms asking about being a mentor for new and experienced members of the club. We also discussed our open house/potluck next meeting. A poster is attached and we ask that you please post in your company/department/work area. We will also ask that you sign up for a dish to bring to the potluck.

See you next time! Bring a Friend!
